Simple Aftercare That Helps You Feel Comfortable
Keeping things cool is the simplest kindness you can do your skin after a facial. Skip hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day, and cleanse with lukewarm rather than hot water. If your face feels warm, a clean cloth soaked in cool water, wrung out and rested gently on the skin for a few minutes, is very soothing.
Try to keep your hands away from your face. Freshly treated skin appreciates being left alone, and touching invites more pinkness through simple friction — as well as transferring whatever is on your hands.
Give your usual actives a short break. Strong exfoliants, retinol and acid-based products are best set aside for a day or two after a facial — your skin has just had plenty of attention and does not need more.
